Natalie Portman's 'Black Swan' Ballet Dancing War Rages With Studio Response
She's got the Oscar, but whether Natalie Portman danced her way to the highest award in Hollywood is a question that, apparently, remains unanswered. Depending on who you ask.
Fox Searchlight Films released a statement over the weekend declaring that Portman did most of the dancing in psychological ballet thriller "Black Swan." The statement comes in response to accusations by dance double Sarah Lane that scenes depicting Portman dancing in the film did not actually include Portman doing the dancing.
“We were fortunate to have Sarah there to cover the more complicated dance sequences and we have nothing but praise for the hard work she did. However, Natalie herself did most of the dancing featured in the final film," the studio said.
Lane came out firing against the popular belief that Portman had indeed done the dancing shown on film, telling Entertainment Weekly on Friday that it was all substitutes, movie magic and PR wizardry.
“They wanted to create this idea in people’s minds that Natalie was some kind of prodigy or so gifted in dance and really worked so hard to make herself a ballerina in a year and a half for the movie, basically because of the Oscar,” Lane told EW. “It is demeaning to the profession and not just to me. I’ve been doing this for 22 years…. Can you become a concert pianist in a year and a half, even if you’re a movie star?”
That harsh set of accusations came after Portman's choreographer, on-screen dance partner (and now fiance) Benjamin Millepied vouched for her dance cred in a LA Times article a few days earlier.
"It was so believable, it was fantastic, that beautiful movement quality," he told the paper. "There are articles now talking about her dance double that are making it sound like [Sarah Lane, her body double] did a lot of the work, but really, she just did the footwork, and the fouettés, and one diagonal [phrase] in the studio. Honestly, 85% of that movie is Natalie."

Portman, who studied ballet until she was 13 years old, trained for over a year to get her dance moves and near emaciated body in professional ballet shape. It was an experience, Portman said, that sometimes left her thinking that she might die.
But it wasn't enough, Lane insisted.
“I mean, from a professional dancer’s standpoint, she doesn’t look like a professional ballet dancer at all and she can’t dance in pointe shoes. And she can’t move her body; she’s very stiff,” she said.
Portman did have another double, Kimberly Prosa, whom Huffington Post blogger Debra Levine interviewed around the time the film came out. Prosa vouched, at least in part, for Portman's ability and authenticity.
"Natalie took class, she studied for several months, from the waist up is her," Prosa said. "Sarah Lane, a soloist at ABT, did the heavy tricks, she did the fouéttes, but they only had her for a limited time, a couple of weeks, so I did the rest of whatever dance shots they needed.
"She [Portman] definitely put her work in. Just in a couple of months, she looked credible -- all the dancers on the set were really impressed at how well she pulled that off -- it was pretty amazing."
Meanwhile, Portman will take on an entirely different role in her next project, the spoof medieval comedy "Your Highness," co-starring Danny McBride, James Franco and Zoe Deschanel.

Situation The Jerk Off....
The Situation's HORRIBLE live routine at the "Comedy Central Roast of Donald Trump" was far more PAINFUL than it appeared on TV ... and TMZ has uncovered the TERRIBLE "jokes" that were cut from the broadcast.
Among the crap that didn't make the cut -- a racial attempt at humor directed at Snoop Dogg:
"Yo Snoop, what up dawg ... you know you have so much in common with Donald Trump?
Trump's ancestors were into real estate ... and your ancestors were considered property."
More terrible cracks ...
"I'm not from New Jersey ... I was born in Staten Island which is a New York borough ... not to be confused with the burro Marlee Matlin bl*ws onstage in Tijuana ... "
He continued, "Relax, she didn't even hear it ... I mean hey, at least her mouth is good for something right? Hey, that was definitely some great work Marlee ... have you ever done anything else actually?"
Sitch ignored the boos and groans and continued ...
"Larry King is rockin' the Armani diaper ... Seth MacFarlane is sporting Victoria's Secret ... panties. And Snoop is wearing a Louis Vuitton condom ... nah, I'm just kidding, he don't wear condoms, you know that!"
And it just didn't stop ...
"I like Larry King ... he's a playa ... he actually wrote a book named 'Mr. King Is Having a Heart Attack' ... he got that title from a hooker he was f**king."
One last parting shot for Trump:
"Trump is a good looking dude ... if your eyes are like Marlee Matlin's ears."
The Situation everybody.

AKA's-Black Sorority Members, Decline Invite to Governor's Mansion
Some members of the legislative black caucus are still upset over remarks Gov. Rick Scott made several weeks ago to the caucus about growing up poor “in the same situation as you guys.”
Reporter: The News Service of FloridaTallahassee, Florida - March 17, 2011 --
Some members of the legislative black caucus are still upset over remarks Gov. Rick Scott made several weeks ago to the caucus about growing up poor “in the same situation as you guys.” The black sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha received an invite from First Lady Ann Scott to a mansion reception on Tuesday evening, said Rep. Geraldine Thompson, D-Orlando, a member of the sorority. “The organization opted instead to have the reception at City Hall because of the insensitivity shown to members of the black caucus when we met there for lunch,” Thompson said. She will be holding a press conference with Rep. Mia Jones, D-Jacksonville, on Wednesday to highlight issues that impact black Floridians, such as funding cuts to historically black colleges and universities.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "NEW AGE" ANYTHING!
Just because people don't overstand the total meaning behind something and only have the story through filtered lenses, they are indeed the misguided lamb....people often categorize supposed New Age concepts and revelations as satanic or even blasphemous...the truth is...it's all recycled, regenerated, concepts and revelations that each group of or era eventually get's prevyied to....the more I read these accusations all over the internet regarding Illuminati puppets, I have no doubt in my mind that I too can easily be placed in this category....it isn't fair to be labeled evil when one has to question the entire foundation in which so called good was founded on....what if YOUR God was indeed this devil you speak of....I believe people and groups have gotten their hands on things that they may have misused or taken advantage of out of greed along the way....but the calendar as we know it according to the fathers and mothers of Maya that passed it down to us ends soon, and not because the WORLD is actually gonna end, but because we will be called to a higher consciousness....a new awakening, The Dawn Of A Golden Age....

Gadhafi vows 'long war' after US, allies strike
TRIPOLI, Libya – A defiant Moammar Gadhafi vowed a "long war" after the U.S. and European militaries blasted his forces with airstrikes and over 100 cruise missiles, hitting air defenses and at least two major air bases early Sunday, shaking the Libyan capital with explosions and anti-aircraft fire.
Despite the strikes, Gadhafi's troops lashed back, bombarding the rebel-held city of Misrata with artillery and tanks on Sunday, the opposition reported.
The nighttime barrage, mainly by U.S and British ships and submarines, marked the widest international military effort since the Iraq war. The international air assault came as Gadhafi's overwhelming firepower was threatening to crush the month-old rebellion against his 41-year rule. State television said 48 people were killed in the strikes.
The strikes by missiles and warplanes hit one of Libya's main air bases, on Tripoli's outskirts, the opposition said. Also hit, it said, was an air force complex outside Misrata, the last rebel-held city in western Libya — which has been under siege the past week by Gadhafi forces. Those forces have been bombarding the city from the complex, which houses an air base and a military academy.
Despite the strikes, Gadhafi forces resumed bombarding Misrata after daylight on Sunday, said Switzerland-based Libyan activist Fathi al-Warfali.
"Misrata is the only city in western Libya not under Gadhafi's control; he is trying hard to change its position," said al-Warfali, who told The Associated Press he was in touch with residents in the city.
In Benghazi, the rebel capital and first city to fall to the uprising that began Feb. 15, people said the strikes happened just in time. Libyan government tanks and troops on Saturday had reached the edges of the city in eastern Libya in fierce fighting that killed more than 120 people according to Gibreil Hewadi, a member of the rebel health committee in Benghazi. He said the dead included rebel fighters and civilians, among them women and children.
Sunday, the city was quiet. As part of the international assault, French warplanes hit targets in the Benghazi area.
"It was a matter of minutes and Gadhafi's forces would have been in Benghazi," said Akram Abdul Wahab, a 20-year-old butcher in the city.
Mohammed Faraj, 44, a former military man who joined the rebels, held a grenade in each hand as he manned a checkpoint on the outskirts of the city.
"Me and all of Benghazi, we will die before Gadhafi sets foot here again," Faraj told The Associated Press. "Our spirits are very high."
The initial missile assault of 112 Tomahawk cruise missiles aimed to take out Gadhafi's air defenses to clear the way for enforcing a no-fly zone, targeting more than 20 radar systems, communications centers and surface-to-air missile sites. But the U.N. resolution authorizing the action goes much further, allowing "all necessary means" to protect civilians.
That means the U.S. and Europeans have a free hand in the next stages to attack Gadhafi's ground forces besieging rebel cities or other military targets.
The rebels, who control most of the eastern half of Libya, hope the allied intervention will — in the short term — tip the scales back in their favor after an onslaught by Gadhafi's forces threatened to reverse their gains early in the uprising. In the longer term, they hope to regain a momentum that will allow them to topple the Libyan leader.
Still, the top U.S. military officer said the goals of the international campaign are "limited" and won't necessarily lead to the ousting of Gadhafi.
Asked on NBC's "Meet the Press" whether it was possible that the mission's goals could be achieved while leaving Gadafi in power, Adm. Mike Mullen said, "That's certainly potentially one outcome." Pressed on this point later in an interview on CNN's "State of the Union," Mullen was more vague, saying it was too early to speculate. He said the Libyan leader is "going to have to make some choices about his own future" at some point.
Gadhafi vowed to fight on. In a phone call to Libyan state television, he said he would not let up on Benghazi and said the government had opened up weapons depots to all Libyans, who were now armed with "automatic weapons, mortars and bombs." State television said Gadhafi's supporters were converging on airports as human shields.
"We promise you a long war," he said.
He called the international assault "simply a colonial crusader aggression that may ignite another large-scale crusader war."
Throughout the day Sunday, Libyan TV showed a stream of what it said were popular demonstrations in support of Gadhafi in Tripoli and other towns and cities. It showed cars with horns blaring, women ullulating, young men waving green flags and holding up pictures of the Libyan leader. Women and children chanted, "God, Muammar and Libya, that's it!"
"Our blood is green, not red," one unidentified woman told the broadcaster, referring to the signature color of Gadhafi's regime. "He is our father, we will be with him to the last drop of blood. Our blood is green with our love for him."
The cruise missile assault was the "leading edge" of a coalition campaign, named Operation Odyssey Dawn, said Navy Vice Adm. William E. Gortney, director of the Pentagon's Joint Staff.
He said it would take six to 12 hours to assess the damage, and if the main targets — Libya's SA-5 surface-to-air missiles — were taken out, then it would be safe to send an unmanned Global Hawk surveillance drone to get a better picture of the area.
French fighter jets fired the first salvos overnight, carrying out several strikes in the rebel-held east, around the Benghazi area, while British fighter jets also bombarded the North African nation. The cruise missile barrage was fired from five U.S. ships in the Mediterranean — the guided-missile destroyers USS Stout and USS Barry, and three submarines, USS Providence, USS Scranton and USS Florida.
The U.S. military announced that Navy electronic warfare aircraft and Marine Corps attack jets joined the international assault early Sunday. Navy EA-18G Growlers launched from unspecified land bases to provide electronic warfare support over Libya. Marine AV-8B Harriers from the USS Kearsarge sailing in the Mediterranean conducted strikes against Gadhafi's ground forces and air defenses.
President Barack Obama said military action was not his first choice and reiterated that he would not send American ground troops.
"This is not an outcome the U.S. or any of our partners sought," Obama said from Brazil, where he is starting a five-day visit to Latin America. "We cannot stand idly by when a tyrant tells his people there will be no mercy."
The U.S. has struck Libya before. Former President Ronald Reagan launched U.S. airstrikes on Libya in 1986 after a bombing at a Berlin disco — which the U.S. blamed on Libya — that killed three people, including two American soldiers. The airstrikes killed about 100 people in Libya, including Gadhafi's young adopted daughter at his Tripoli compound.
The overnight attack early Sunday shook coastal cities, including Tripoli, where anti-aircraft guns could be heard firing.
Libyan TV quoted the armed forces command as saying 48 people were killed and 150 wounded in the allied assault. It said most of the casualties were children but gave no more details.
Mullen told NBC's "Meet the Press" that he had seen no reports of civilian casualties as a result of the coalition's military operation.
The International Committee of the Red Cross said it was "deeply concerned" about civilians and called on all sides work to distinguish between civilians and fighters and allow safe access for humanitarian organizations.

XOXOXO
Poor Steve Martin. It looks like he's the latest in a long line of Hollywood celebrities to catch the shoplifting bug.
Like most of the other starlets, Martin was in complete denial that he'd done anything wrong, until David Letterman revealed that 'Late Show' had acquired some security footage.
Martin tried to keep Letterman from airing the video, but you can't bottle the truth for long. In stark black-and-white, Martin's shame was revealed for all to see.

We loved the visual of Martin coming out of the grocery story with a full ham stuffed into his pants. You could barely tell it was there.
And now he gets to sport the same kind of stylish anklet that Lindsay Lohan wore.
In other words, he's finally arrived.

Too much love for pup who survived being put to sleep?
By Kristi Eaton
The Associated Press
OKLAHOMA CITY — A stray dog who survived an attempt to put him to sleep at an Oklahoma animal shelter has become a canine celebrity, with thousands seeking to adopt him, an appearance on a national television show and growing concerns about his safety as his fan base increases.
Wall-E was among several dogs abandoned by the Sulphur Animal Shelter less than a month ago. A local veterinarian tried to euthanize the puppy due to overcrowding, but he somehow survived.
Now, about 3,000 people have expressed interest in adopting him and $1,200 has been donated for his care. He was flown to New York City to appear on "Good Morning America." Concerns about his safety have arisen as some people have said they want to breed him to make money.
Veterinarian technician Amanda Kloski, who works at Arbuckle Veterinarian Clinic, has been surprised by some of the phone calls and e-mails the clinic has received. She said one man traveled from Arkansas to the clinic in Sulphur, about 80 miles south of Oklahoma City, offering to take Wall-E off her hands and breed him.
"It's been crazy," Kloski said Wednesday.
Since that incident, Wall-E has been going home with a designated individual each night, rather than staying at the clinic. Also, plans are to have Wall-E neutered before he is sent to a new home.
Kloski began caring for Wall-E when he was found alive in a trash bin a day after he was injected twice —once in the foreleg and once in the heart — with a lethal dose of a sedative.
Rashida Jones — may not be the marrying kind?
By Marc Malkin
Rashida Jones is the perfect catch. She's beautiful, talented, smart (she went to Harvard, people!) and her parents are music maestro Quincy Jones and model turned actress Peggy Lipton.
But there's one hitch, fellas — Rashida may not be the marrying kind.
"Things are changing so much," Jones says. "Especially this country, we have kind of failed with marriage. We're so protective of this really sacred but failed institution. There's got to be a new model. I don't know what it is, but maybe it's like 10 years with a lease to buy or rent to own."
The "Parks and Recreation" star has good reason to be talking relationships. Her new movie "Monogamy" (out on Friday) is about an engaged couple (Jones and "Julie & Julia" star Chris Messina) on the verge of getting married but dealing with the question of infidelity.
So does Jones believe in monogamy? Read on to find out. Plus, what she told me about pursuing a music career, acting opposite Kermit the Frog and the hotness of Garrett Hedlund and Andrew Garfield...
Do you believe in monogamy?
I do for some people. I don't know if I believe in it for everybody.
So when are you getting married?
Maybe never? [laughs]. Marriage doesn't really buy you anything. I mean, Chris Messina, who is my costar in this movie, is with my very close friend [producer Jennifer Todd]. They're not married, but they have two kids and they're wildly happy. It doesn't buy you anything. It just buys you a really big s--tty pageant of a wedding to make other people happy.
OK, now we have to talk about Garrett Hedlund and Andrew Garfield. You posed between both of them on the cover of the Hollywood issue of Vanity Fair.
I know! Flanked by hotness, right? Just flanked by hotness! ... I'm friends with both of them. But I could be their moms. No, I couldn't be their moms, but I am older than them which made it excellent that I was romantically linked to Garrett, which I'm not. Yeah, they're both adorable and extremely talented.
Obviously, music has been a big part of your life. Did you ever think of pursuing it more full-time?
I did. I absolutely did. I have a lot of reverence-slash-fear about music because obviously I have a living legend as my father. Music breaks my heart constantly. I almost can't even talk about it I love it so much. So that being said, there are so many things I love about it in terms of performing and writing, but I'm not sure that I'm ready to share that with the world. I'm just not quite ready. At some point in my life, I want to lock myself away and make an album just for myself.
Do you share it with your dad? Do you work on music together?
Yes. I auditioned for "Moulin Rouge" years ago for the Nicole Kidman part. They originally wanted that part to be younger. You had to sing a song and I decided I wanted to sing and play a song. I wanted to play this arrangement of "Somewhere" from "West Side Story" that my dad had done for Aretha Franklin. So he taught me the whole arrangement on piano and helped me transpose it to the right key for my voice. It's one of my best memories.
Maybe we'll see a musical episode of "Parks and Recreation."
Oh my God, we're like seasons away from that. They're just doing that on "Grey's Anatomy" and it's like season seven or something.
You're in the new Muppets movie. Who's you're favorite Muppet?
It shifts a lot. It was Fozzie, but I worked a lot with Kermit and Steve Whitmire, who plays Kermit. And they also let me do some puppeteering. I got to do some extra work because they needed an extra hand. It was a no-named puppet that I named Doris. She was in the orchestra.

NEWS-AHOLIC EXCLUSIVE: GUESS WHICH TOP R&B FEMALE SINGER GOT TURNED OUT BY MISSY ELLIOT!!
MediaTakeOut.com just got wind of a very JUICY bit of gossip, rapper Missy Elliot used to date R&B singer Keri Hilson . . . . ROMANTICALLY!!!
According to a very WELL REGARDED record industry insider from Atlanta the two met when Keri was a young songwriter and Missy was an international superstar. The insider explained, "Missy is a larger than life personality. She's like a dude. I've seen her turn out straight girls."
And a young Keri was NO MATCH for Missy's pimp game. The insider told MediaTakeOut.com, "Missy [and Keri] started off as friends, but Missy was really seducing her. Keri ended up [infatuated] with Missy, she may have even been in love."
But Missy, like most rappers, is a hit-it-and-quit-it kinda gal. So after the two's WHIRLWIND ROMANCE, Missy dumped Keri. The insider added, "Keri was broken up [about the breakup."
Dang Missy . . . we knew you had good taste . . . SHEESH!!

WADE WINS FULL CUSTODY OF 2 SONS
Dwyane Wade has been awarded custody of his two sons, ending a long legal fight with his ex-wife.
The kids got to Miami on Friday, and will remain with their father in the future. The boys are expected to start at a new school in South Florida on Monday.
The boys’ mother, Siohvaughn Wade, will have what the court described as “regular parenting time” on alternating weekends in Miami, as well as several other times during the year, including Mother’s Day.
The 102-page ruling, filed Friday in Chicago, “brings to an end a custody trial that was one of the longest ever in Cook County history,” said Wade’s attorney, James Pritikin.
“This is a very difficult decision for this court,” her ruling reads. “This will be an abrupt change for the children. However, this court has very grave reservations about (Siohvaughn Wade’s) ability and/or willingness to ease these children through a transition.”
“The court agreed the best home is with Mr. Wade and that he is also willing to foster a relationship with the children’s mother,” Pritikin said. “I know he will continue to be a phenomenal parent.”
Wade’s divorce was granted last June, after a lengthy separation. The financial portion of the divorce remains unsettled.
“I am very thankful that the court has given me custody of my boys and they are already at home with me in Miami and settling in,” the Miami Heat guard said in a statement. “Going through a custody trial was difficult and I wish it hadn’t been necessary, but, I felt it was the only way that I could continue to play an active part of my kids’ lives and provide them with a happy and stable home. My hope is that their mother will also choose to play a healthy role in their lives and we can all move on from this in a positive way.”
Siohvaughn Wade will fly to Miami every other weekend to spend time with her children, with the exception of a few holidays during which the boys will come to Illinois. For the time being the cost of her trips, including “reasonable” airfare and lodging, will be covered by Dwyane Wade.
During All-Star weekend, the NBA star will have parenting time with the boys. If the Miami Heat are in the NBA finals, the boys also will be with their dad, but only if he is a player/participant, according to the judge’s ruling.

MediaTakeOut.com just learned that there is a SERIOUS STRAIN in the relationship between Jay Z and his protege (and maybe more), Rihannna.
According to a ROCK SOLID insider, Jay Z has asked Rihanna to lay low now that her Last Girl On Earth Tour is over. The insider explains,"He told Rihanna to go on vacation, away from the press and get herself together."
But MediaTakeOut.com;s insider claims that Rihanna is NOT taking Jigga's advice. The tipster tells, "Rihanna's hoter than ever, she's not going to take a break now. Besides - she's no dummy. Beyonce is releasing a single next month and a video (with Alicia Keys) in two weeks. She knows that [Jay Z] would rather that Bey not share the spotlight."

Jennifer Aniston In Smart Water Ad 'Jen Aniston's Sex Tape' (VIDEO)
Jennifer Aniston stars in a new spot for Smart Water that employs all the tropes of viral videos - puppies, dancing babies, a double rainbow... and for good measure, Aniston kicking a man in the crotch ("Sorry, apparently that's worth about 100,000 hits," she tells her victim.)
In a final bid for eyeballs, Aniston and her team of "Internet boys" decide to call the video "Jen Aniston's sex tape."
A previous Smart Water Aniston ad has featured her bare, ripped stomach.

Jennifer Aniston Reveals the Shocking Reason She Chopped It All Off
Jennifer Aniston took a few inches off her signature locks, and around the world, CHAOS ENSUED*.
Her decision resulted in global unrest, as Supercuts and Great Clips locations worldwide were reportedly mobbed by hordes of angry women wielding scissors.
And in LA, hairstylist Jose Eber is said to have gone into hiding after a mob broke down his front door with cries of, "Bring back The Rachel!"
Meanwhile, chants of "JENNIFER GOT A BOB!" could be heard from unruly crowds in far-flung locales ranging from Bangkok to New Zealand to Peoria.
And now, Aniston's hairstylist has revealed to Allure magazine the shocking story behind her decision.
*Totally fictitious chaos, obvs.
In an Allure exclusive, hairstylist Chris McMillan admits that Aniston's signature look had been appropriated by a group with whom she understandably doesn't want to be associated. He says:
A bob, of course! Or as he calls it, a hairline bob, which is shorter in the back and longer in the front.
McMillan talks about the cut to Allure like it's some new, modern style, but frankly this bob has been around for years. It's nothing you won't see in any shopping mall in America.
But what do we care?
Jennifer has taken it all off! Let the rioting outside the Vidal Sassoons of the world continue!
What do you think of this shocking news from the Aniston camp?

MTV Star Arrested, Smears Poop on Jail Cell
MTV reality show star Abram Boise must have been feeling down in the dumps after he got arrested this weekend ... because while sitting in his jail cell, he defecated in his hands and smeared it on the cell ... this according to law enforcement sources.
Boise was arrested in Massachusetts by Lunenburg PD on two counts of defacing property and one count of indecent exposure ... after cops found him urinating in public.
But apparently his bowels weren't empty ... because law enforcement sources tell us he peed on the floor of the cell, was moved to a second one, and then he pooped in his hand and smeared it all over the wall of the second cell.
Abram has appeared in such reality shows as “Road Rules: South Pacific,” “The Gauntlet,” “The Inferno,” “Battle of the Sexes 2,” “The Inferno 3” and “The Island.”
In case you give a crap, Abram is scheduled to be arraigned today.
